Ten individuals sentenced of cyber-bullying against Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has convicted ten people for perpetrating the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced allegations of circulating untruths regarding her gender identity and sexual orientation, in addition to posting defamatory statements about the pair's 24-year age gap.
The court issued conditional custodial sentences of as much as eight months to the convicted individuals. The complete verdict has still to be made public.
A longstanding false narrative claiming that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has been in circulation since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.
This Monday's court decision in France coincides with the Macrons pursuing a legal action for defamation in the United States of America against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced similar conspiracy theories about the Brigitte Macron's identity.
Their complaint contends that Owens ignored all credible evidence that refuted her assertions choosing instead to give a platform to established defamers.
Owens has frequently reiterated these assertions on her digital program and social media channels, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would bet her whole career on her insistence that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron initially encountered her now-husband when she was a teacher at his lycée.
The couple tied the knot in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was 54.
